In memoriam

29 Nov

Whenever I hear news about tragedy involving children, I try to learn as absolutely little about it as possible.  I love children, and I do not want to know.  I run away from listening to that type of news and Lord knows I go out of my way to not read it.  So it was sickening to learn this morning, when I saw headlines that Yoselyn Ortega pleaded “not guilty” at her arraignment yesterday, that the “nanny stabbing murders” of two children in October — of which I had intentionally been only vaguely aware — had a CNBC (and Bloomberg, for that matter) connection.

It feels inappropriate to write anything more, other than condolences and prayers to Kevin and Marina Krim.  I thought about replacing the Join the Democratic Party “ad” on the sidebar with something that promoted the Krims’ Lulu & Leo Fund, but given the nature and content of this blog, even that well-intentioned act feels gauche.  Therefore, I will only link to the fund here and make this post a “sticky” for a while.  To those who are reading this, please donate generously.  Established by Marina and Kevin Krim in memory of their two children, the Lulu & Leo Fund seeks to raise money for children’s education and enrichment programs.
